Women are, by nature, jealous. We are easliy intimidated by those we perceive to be smarter, funnier, more beautiful, nicer, better dressed, cooler, more well-connected, etc. Jealousy is a bitter poison - it clouds the vision of our inner eyes, distracts us from truth, and replaces time loving with time judging. The only reason to feel jealous is to feel threatened and the only reason to feel threatened is to doubt your own light and wonder. Jealousy is a direct symptom of a dim flame. Instead of being jealous of other women we should embrace them and all the things they can teach us. The chances are she's also hoping to learn how to play the drums like you can, conquer her rat's nest of hair, abandon herself for the needs of others, or where to find the best records. We could all become such better people if we would just put our egos aside, loving and learning from one another.
START WITH YOURESELF
I find it's so easy to expect great things from others. We can say we have standards, that not just any man will do, that we only surround ourselves with girls who aren't catty and who are going places. Meanwhile we sit home, live our lives for ourselves, do not bother to cultivate the behaviours or traits that we expect from everyone else. Like attracts like - bettering yourself and upholding your own standards for your own life will enrich your own life, nevermind the kind of people it will attract into your life. Stop waiting for good things to happen to you and go out and happen to them instead. Learn a language, pick up a skateboard, volunteer, start your own business, write a book, call your mom, quit smoking - become the woman you want to be right now. You owe it to yourself. Don't wait for someone to come save you. Don't wait for Oprah to tell you it's okay, don't wait for it to become trendy, don't wait for someone to show you how. Dream of who you would like to be, then do everything in your power to make that happen.
